Spring/Summer 2012 Trend Report: Monochromatic Pieces

Yesterday I told you about my featured guest blogger, Dana Christina. Well, here it is–her post on this season’s hot trend=monochromatic. Read on for more fashion fun! {Welcome to glory’s notes, Dana! Xo}

This season’s hottest trend is the explosion of colors. All over the runways from NYC to London, designers are ditching boring greys + blacks and going bold with bright monochromatic pieces that are sure to brighten up your spring / summer wardrobe. Designers such as Mulberry, Chanel, Thiery Mugler, Oscar de la Renta and Derek Lam, have come up with a brilliant way to brighten up your spring / summer looks—monochromatic outfits! Celebs like Rihanna have mastered this look a while ago, before it hit the runways. And Faith Hill in bright red for an event is much in tune with the monochromatic craze as anyone on the streets of London.

Here’s how some of my favorite designers + celebs are wearing this very cool trend; and check out the street translation of the look on the streets of London.

Great use of color in accessories + shoes to make this outfit pop!

{Trend tip: When choosing a monochromatic outfit you need to pay much attention to textures, cuts and accessories. However, you are free to play it up to the fullest on any color. Yellow and orange are huge this spring, alongside pastels. Break the monotony with cool statement bags, shoes or jewelry and stick with a single hue in clothes.}

I think it’s safe to say 2012 spring / summer fashion is anything but boring and it’s definitely not lacking in color options. It can be quite daunting to pull the look together, so whatever you do–have fun with it!
